Ceramic washbasin production process

Apr 10, 2025

Ceramic washbasins and bathroom washbasins are both ceramic products. Now let's take a look at the characteristics of ceramics:

1. High temperature heating at 1280 degrees Celsius makes the product truly fully ceramicized, with the advantages of high temperature resistance, wear resistance, and non-water absorption.

2. Imported special glaze formula, the glaze is smooth and delicate, the surface is wear-resistant, stain-resistant, and easy to clean. 3. Long-term use ensures that it is as good as new.
Now let's take a look at the production process of ceramic washbasins, bathroom washbasins and other ceramic sanitary ware! 1) Ceramic

1)Production Raw Materials

  • It is divided into porcelain clay and glaze. The raw materials contained are basically the same, but the raw material ratios are different.
  • Its main ingredients: feldspar, quartz, iron oxide, zirconium oxide, aluminum powder, magnesium oxide, and colorants. K20 SiO2 ZnO ZrO2 AL2O3 MgO
  • Clay: A kind of clay used to produce pottery and porcelain is referred to as clay.
  • Porcelain: A finished product that is completely vitrified into porcelain during high-temperature firing.
  • Pottery: finished products that are not completely vitrified and not porcelain during high-temperature firing.
  • The difference between porcelain and pottery: raw material formula, product water absorption rate, firing temperature.
  • Slurry: raw materials used for molding grouting.
  • Glaze: raw materials used for spraying glaze on semi-finished products.
  • Production process: ball milling, screening, iron removal, pool storage. Ball milling and screening must meet the national standard of 325 mesh.

2) Mold

  • Plaster mold used for molding grouting.
  • Material: gypsum powder
  • Features: fast water absorption, short solidification time, easy repair, cheap price.
  • Grouting times: 80 times-120 times.
  • Production process: 3D drawing design, original mold artificial sculpture, mother mold made of resin.
  • The mother mold is formed, and the sub-mold is produced through the mother mold for molding grouting.

3) Molding pouring

  • Use slurry to form a semi-finished blank in the gypsum mold.
  • Each molded product is composed of at least two module models.
  • Forming method: single-sided slurry suction, double-sided slurry suction.
  • Production process: slurry injection, slurry discharge, demoulding, splicing and drilling, and blank repair.

4) Spraying glaze

  • Use glaze to spray evenly on the semi-finished blank.
  • Spraying glaze method: robot spraying glaze, manual spraying glaze.

5) Firing

  • The semi-finished product sprayed with glaze is formed after high-temperature heating in the kiln.
  • Firing shrinkage: no more than 1.15
  • Firing time: 13 hours to 15 hours.
  • Firing temperature: 1210℃-1290C
  • Firing process: preheating zone, firing zone, cooling zone.
  • Kiln types: shuttle kiln, tunnel kiln, roller kiln.

6) Inspection

  • Slurry: fineness, specific gravity (water content), shrinkage, strength, bending resistance, flow thixotropy.
  • Glaze: flow, thixotropy, fineness, specific gravity, color difference, high temperature flow, drying time, body glaze adaptability (to control thermal stability).
  • Color difference: glaze is applied to tiles and fired, and compared with the American KOHLER standard color plate, using an imported colorimeter.
  • Color: visual inspection.
